HOW OUR KITS WORK

Our mini pontoon lift boats kits are designed for folks who need the ability to lift things out on the water. Customers use these small pontoon boats to hang water pumps for dredging, dewatering, and flood control, as well as carry out underwater recovery and repair, move mooring anchors, or even hang water testing and underwater surveying equipment. All of our A-frame lift boats are based on our custom aluminum boat frame system, and our 1200 pound lift capacity A-frame gantry system. Our lift frames are made with a highly weight efficient design (only weigh a total of 52 pounds) with aluminum legs and a stainless steel horizontal gantry pipe. Each frame also has two 3/8" thick lift rings. This allows you to both lift with the boat and lift the boat out of the water with a crane. Best of all, all our our boats use our foam filled, HDPE plastic floats that are practically indestructible.

Our boat base frames use our proprietary 6000 series aluminum extrusions and are assembled with simple hardware. The floats themselves bolt to the aluminum main beams, which have two slots for 3/8" square nuts, and the crossmembers are a beefy 2" tall hat channel. With the square nut slots running the full length of the main beams, you can bolt crossmembers anywhere you need them, as well as easily bolt other accessories to the boat if you need to. Our lift boat kits include all the aluminum frame structure components and required assembly hardware, but you do have to drill the holes for mounting the floats themselves due to slight variations inherent with large rotomolded plastic parts.

Why run a bolt-together kit? We can ship your kit anywhere you need it, it can be assembled anywhere, and it can be pulled back apart for storage. Our kits arrive as two shipments. The floats ship direct from the partnering plastics factory in AR, and the frame system ships from our fabrication and machine shop in NH. The shipment from NH will include all your frame members and stainless hardware. Also, YES, our hardware kits will have spare nuts, bolts, and washers. We all know how annoying it is when you buy a kit and lose a couple pieces. We don't want anyone to be dead in the water part way through assembly.

Are these whole boats ready to register? No, they are not! When you purchase a kit from us, you are purchasing floats and frame components, not a whole boat with a Hull Identification Number. Also, if you're not powering your boat, you don't need to register it. If you do choose to power it for use on public waterways, most areas require that you register the boat as home-built, and we can guide you through this process.

We have thorough assembly instructions for our boat kits, as well as full CAD models available here to download. For further information on shipping and company policies, please check out the FAQ section at the bottom of this page. If you have other questions not covered here, please contact us.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are the floats made from? How are they constructed?

A: All of our boat kits use super tough HDPE plastic floats with closed-cell urethane foam filling. The HDPE plastic shells are rotomolded parts that are made from the same material that pick-up truck bed liners and snowmobile skis are made from. Our floats are individually sealed units, but in the event that one is punctured, you simply can't sink. To see all the details on our plastic float construction, please visit our MODULAR PLASTIC FLOATS page.

Q: How quickly do the kits ship? How does shipping work?

A: To cover our tails, we have to say that turn-around time is typically 1-3 weeks, but boat kits often get out the door within a week. We stock thousands of pounds of the frame components, and floats are often in stock as well, but turn-around time is dependant on current outstanding orders. Our busiest time is typically May through July, but any time of the year, filling orders is our top priority, and we ship as quickly as possible.

Floats ship from our partnering factory in Arkansas, and frames ship from our metal fabrication shop in NH. This means that all pontoon boat and work platform kits will arrive as two shipments. If you're close enough to NH or AR, local pick-up of either your floats or frame kit is available with prior arrangements. We also have international shipping available if you're located outside the US. We can ship via truck freight to Canada and Mexico, but if you're located outside of North America, we only ship via ocean freight. We can ship just about anywhere in the world, but it is most economical to pick-up at your local sea port if you're outside North America. When shipping via sea freight, the cost that you pay through us is ONLY the cost to get the freight onto the boat and physically to the local dock or to your doorstep. Your local port WILL have additional fees on top of our freight charge, and you WILL be responsible for your local importaion taxes and fees on top of those costs. We simply don't have a way to calculate or collect these fees ahead of delivery, so we strongly recommend doing your own research concerning the local fees you will encounter when importing our products. Also, many countries require working with an importation broker to file customs documents. We do not include this service and you will be responsible for making such arrangements.

Q: Are custom sizes available?

A: Yes! Our frame systems for 17" wide and 26" wide floats are able to go up to 8' wide and 175" long, but we do not offer larger frame systems for our 17" and 26" floats. We're happy to provide custom frame configurations, but due to engineering, production, and shipping limitations, we are not able to offer larger frames systems than stated above. Larger boats can be built with the floats that we offer, but you will have to design and build your own frame system.

Q: What is the warranty on these kits?

A: Our floats have a 1-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects. This period starts the day that the floats leave the factory. This is a 365 day period and the warranty covers the cost of freight for customers in the contiguous US (Alaska and Hawaii are not included), but not the cost of installation. Our frame systems have a 2-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects. This warranty starts the day that the frame kit is shipped and is a 730 day period. The frame kit warranty covers the cost of freight for customers in the contiguous US (Alaska and Hawaii are not included), but not the cost of installation or assembly. For non-US customers, for both floats and frame kits, replacement parts themselves are covered under warranty, but the cost of freight is not included. If you receive a product and find a defect, please contact us as soon as possible and we will replace the part or parts after clear pictures of the defect or defects are received. Crash damage, misuse, and abuse are not covered under warranty.

Q: How is payment accepted?

A: For orders totaling up to $7000, we are able to accept payment via credit card, PayPal, check, or electronic bank transfer. Payment for orders totaling over $7000 must be in the form of a bank-to-bank wire transfer, ACH payment, company check, or certified bank check. Personal checks are not accepted for orders totaling over $7000. Payment is due at the time the order is placed, and no order will be placed into our production queue before payment is received. "Net" payment terms are not offered by Silver Lake Fabrication LLC. This is a steadfast company policy. All prices shown are in USD and are subject to change without prior public notice.

Q: How do returns and cancellations work?

A: Simply put, they do not work. We DO NOT accept returns and we WILL NOT cancel an order. We work hard to get orders out the door as quickly as possible and provide the best service that we can. This means that when you commit to a purchase, we have committed to fill the order in a timely manner. Once an order is placed, the money you've paid goes into materials and labor specifically for your order, and we don't get that back, even if you change your mind. We repeat, WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS AND WE WILL NOT CANCEL ORDERS.
